...to the post about the market stall, below. The cement-looking stuff for sale was clay, for pregnant women to eat. The practice is called geophagy. Certain parrots do it, too. (IJQ.)

That's nuts! I have heard of pregnant women wanting to eat clay, but I didn't know that some of them actually did it!
yeah esp. in the southern US. i guess there are certain kinds of clay that are more suitable than others.
