The Kickball Phenomenon

We are just learning about this, so excuse our ignorance, but it seems that kickball is a big deal in Liberia, with formal teams and everything. Even a national team! This article appeared in the paper on Thursday, and when I asked a carful of middle-class Liberians, they knew all about it, and had opinions. "Oh yeah, they're trying to increase its popularity as a sport, but they can't find a sponsor. The government should really make a contribution." Not sure if my ears were working properly, I asked if maybe they were talking about a different sport with the same name as the US version. But no. "It's just like baseball, with a big rubber ball."
