The Legislature never ceases to astonish me. Many of the loopholes for government officials to siphon off public funds are being closed. So what does the Legislature do? It is seeking to legalize tax evasion and expending government's resources without accountability. This ploy is cleverly crafted in a proposed act beautifully named "Financial Autonomy Act". On the surface, people may easily be fooled into thinking this is a great idea but if anyone knows the history of many of the individuals in the Legislature today, they would quickly come to the conclusion that the act is intended to give those individuals a license to rob the Liberian people of scarce resources. I am happy that many people are seeing through this ploy. I am particularly incensed by the tax evasion component of the proposed act.
they're already threatening to override any veto of the "financial autonomy act", if the president chooses to go that way. so far she's silent on the issue, as far as i know.
